Marriage

Seven

March 10, 2014

This month was as busy as I anticipated it would be: extremely. But, instead of, like, doing anything about it — I didn’t– and made it worse. SO MUCH WORSE.

Remember what I said about not planning in last month’s post? Sorry, I think my neurons ceased firing there for a second, because that’s insanity. Nope, It’s just not going to work for me. Ever. I learned the hard way this month that if something is not written down and scheduled, thereby making me feel forced to do whatever is listed, it’s not going to happen — It’s the whole lack of motivation thing. I go hard about it, too. Even if stuff I like isn’t scheduled, it’s probably not happening. What I’m trying to say is that snowshoeing, taking a trip, or anything else that involves at least a few minutes of planning that I may have mentioned last post, didn’t actually come to fruition.

Both Alex and I had a lot on our plates this month, requiring more time behind a desk or staring into books and computer screens than usual. I really didn’t help myself or our joint plans by being so disorganized, and I was feeling pretty overwhelmed by the number of things I had to do and how badly I was managing it all. By the time the weekends rolled around, and we didn’t have any concrete plans, all we wanted to do was extend our usual 6:00 AM wakeup to 12 PM, and spend the rest of the day lying around the house, only getting up to grab another cup of coffee (and the bottle of Bailey’s). We spent our time doing more “tame” activities this month, mostly just pursuing our individual hobbies — finance for Alex, and photography for me — which has given us some much needed time to wind down from some of the more physical activities we do, and allowed my wrist some more healing time before braving the slippery conditions on the trails this time of year. We’re looking forward to being slightly less busy and tired this month, and are actively planning some excursions, so that we’ll actually end up doing them this time around.

Other than being lazier than usual, our seventh month of marriage was as wonderful as usual. We’re just so happy! We still can’t really believe that we are married, and have been for over half a year now. As we were standing in the spot we got married last week (a place we visit every now and again with visiting family and friends, or alone), we said to each other that time really does fly when you’re having fun — and it has been so much fun.

We’re looking forward to a trip of some kind this next month, going on more training hikes, and celebrating an accomplishment of mine, as well as our seventh dating anniversary. I’m curious to see what will actually happen.

Until then, this is some of February 10 to March 10, according to our iPhones and cameras:

I really like these "everyday life" types of pictures. I’m glad married life has been good to you.

See you when I get back home!
