At long last, we’d like to formally introduce you to the newest addition of the Fort family!
Em
Born 9-11-2014
Currently 9 weeks old
Weighs a bit over 6 lbs
Loves her stuffless raccoon, rope dinosaur, rope octopus, kong, and antler
Doesn’t exactly enjoy her collar
Sleeps through the night (knock wood)
Mostly goes potty where she is supposed to 😉
Incredibly energetic
She has been home with us for a week now, and it has been quite an adventure so far!
We are all adjusting well, I’d say. Aries has been so patient, and simply walks away when Em starts to chase her, nip at her tail, or become overly rambunctious in her presence. As for Alex and me, we’re still kind of getting over the shock of how much work it takes to raise a puppy — no amount of researching can ever prepare you for the feeling — but we absolutely adore her. She is such a good girl, is learning quickly, and is endlessly entertaining. We’ve gotten a kick out of watching her bunny-hop furiously across the room, and fall off of our laps and onto the couch because she is so tiny. She is the best dog in the world to us, and if you met her, you may be hard-pressed to call us biased. 😉 We can’t wait to to watch her grow up, and are so glad she is ours.

Oh my God, Dee, these are the best! LOVE your photography. Was this with a DSLR? She must be an easy subject because she is seriously the cutest puppy I have ever laid eyes on. She is so adorable! I am so happy for you guys, having a puppy isn’t easy, but I swear to you, consistency, positive reinforcement, and more consistency will get you the dog you want. If anyone can hack it, you and Alex definitely can because you guys always mean business. Good luck and have fun (Send me more pics, too, lol)!
Thank you! These were just taken with the s5 camera, I haven’t whipped out the big guns yet. She is just too wiggly to get any truly good shots, but maybe that faster shutter speed would help a lot. I’ll probably try to take some soon, though.
Having a schedule has made things a lot easier, even after only a week, and positive reinforcement is my middle name. We are pretty determined to not mess this up. I think one day we’ll make it through!
Her markings are PERFECT! She actually reminds me of Luna when she was a baby. So adorable! Bostons are awesome, and you’re going to fall more in love with her everyday. They are stubborn and will definitely keep you on your toes, but your patience will be rewarded. The devotion alone these little bullies have for their owners makes it all worth it. I think you and Alex will be just fine.
I’m so happy for you both. Love you guys!
Thank you! Yeah, her markings are lovely — textbook — and we’re pretty proud of it! It certainly compliments her equally lovely personality. She’s definitely a bully breed, haha, and can definitely be stubborn, but man is she so much fun. We love her so much!
She is perfect! I adore her name, too. You’re going to have so much fun, and like Megan said, they really are amazing dogs. Some days will be hard, and they’ll push the envelope more than some other breeds, but your training and teaching will pay off in the end. Puppyhood can be rough, but it goes by so fast, so try to enjoy every minute of it.
I feel like such a dork because I’m tearing up, but I’m so happy for you. I know how much you have wanted this and now she is finally yours and so beautiful. Congratulations you two, love you.
Thanks, Al!
Sorry for taking a lifetime to reply. I think our daily talks and rantings covered this, though! She is certainly fiesty, stubborn, and loves to push her limits, but it has been fun. It gets better, easier, and more predictable everyday, and puppyhood is easier to enjoy this week. We are so glad to have her — more hilarity and love in our lives!
